Who Should Trade For Russell Wilson?

What is wrong with Russ?

No team should trade for Russ. With a huge contract that pays him upward of 38 million a year, there is little financial reason to sell for Russ. And his play has been average to poor ever since getting traded to the Broncos. However, if a team were to change for him, this is a list of the best teams to trade for him as follows below.

Patriots

The Patriots have struggled to replace Tom Brady since he left years ago to play a few seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have started 2 QBs, Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, this year. With the great defense they pose, adding a Super Bowl-winning quarterback could help them get back to the playoffs. Mac Jones is as good as gone after this year, and Zappe is a free agent once the season is over. With that being said, the team could trade some late-round draft picks and a player with a less-than-desirable contract that expires for Russ. This would probably only happen if Bill Belichick is the coach for the Patriots next year, and there have been conflicting reports that he will be fired or stay.

Commanders

With the Commanders now looking to get a top 3 pick in this year’s draft, the chances of them taking a quarterback only increase. Sam Howell has also played the two worst games of his career and is now being benched for Jacob Brisset, and who knows if he will play again this season. But what if the Bears trade the 1st overall pick, and so do the Cardinals? That could lead to both Caleb Willams and Drake Maye being off the board, leaving the commanders with Jayden Daniels. Do the Commanders want to take that risk, or could they draft a franchise cornerstone left tackle, which this draft class has tons of offensive line talent? Then they could trade Sam Howell and perhaps a late pick for the Broncos’ now-benched quarterback, Russell Wilson. This would give them a veteran QB who knows what it takes to win, with a competent offensive coordinator and celebrity ownership.

Seahawks

This is very much a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long shot. Russell was traded from the Seahawks to the Broncos only a few years ago and has helped the Seahawks rebuild much of this team. It adds guys like Devon Witherspoon, Boy Mafe, Riq Woolen, Charles Cross, Drew Lock, Noah Fant, and tons of cap space. So, could we see the team who traded him before trading him back? This short answer is probably np. However, seeing him reunite with Dk Metcalf and Tyler Lockett would be super cool. Both are Hall of Fame potential receivers who had so much success with Russell in the past and may be tired of playing with a bum like Geno Smith.
