Why Does Derek Carr Suck?
The Saints need to trade or release Derek Carr. It has become increasingly clear the fanbase and surrounding players on the team no longer believe in or like Carr. Erik McCoy, the starting center and team-voted captain, has shown evident frustration against the QB, yelling at him and not caring about being seen upset at him. Carr may have lost the locker room, and it’s no one else’s fault that this team is failing other than Carr and the coaching staff. We were talking about a pretty sound team with an above-average o line with potential to all pros on it—a tremendous receiving core, headlined by Chris Olave, Rashad Shaheed, and Michale Thomas. At running back, you have an outstanding receiving back in Alvin Kamara and quality backups. Then, at tight end, you have a bunch of solid guys and the crafty Taysom Hill. On defense, you have a tone of great players like Cam Jordan, Demario Davis, and Marshon Lattimore—no reason this team should be failing to finish games.
Who Should Replace Him?
It comes down to either Jameis Winston or Jake Haener. Winston is the most prominent and best choice for the average NFL fan. Especially for Saints fans because almost everyone loves Winston. Although it should not be Winston, Haener should become the new starter for the rest of the season. Haener was one of the best QBs coming out of last year’s draft and is highly underrated. If the team wants to succeed more, they must take a shot at this guy. He has the makeup that many of the great quarterbacks in the NFL have. Winston can score with the weapons on this team but is just a turnover machine. Let this guy come in and get his shot. There is no reason to hold this team back any further. Bench Carr, have Jake Haener start, and let Jamies Winston back him up.
